Why Is Perez Hilton So Annoying? No, Really. We Will Attempt To Figure This Out.
Perez Hilton was recently and inexplicably featured on MTV Iggy as cameras followed him – and a mostly silent Margaret Cho – into his closet. Haha, get it?! Because he likes men, in a highly theoretical sense.
Now, contrary to popular belief, we don’t find every single thing that Perez Hilton does or says to be inherently and unequivocally annoying. We sort of seem him as someone who is a little needy after probably being constantly bullied at Belen Jesuit, the all-boys Catholic school he attended in Miami. It’s his time in the spotlight, we guess, so haha to all the h8ers because now he’s a… gossip blogger… and D-lister… that people love to hate… so. So there!
But, Jesus Christ, did he ever come across as obnoxious in this segment. Check it out:
Ugh.
We get that the “never wear the same thing twice” is supposed to be a little tongue-in-cheek, but still: Ugh. It’s not funny if you kind-of-sort-of-maybe-blatantly buy into your own hype. It’s also not terribly cute or amusing that Perez assumes he in any way merits an award from any sort of entertainment outlet whatsoever.
But, mostly, we think Perez tends to come across as annoying because he really savors attention. And it’s a little sad. He was once a funny writer with a very biting sense of humor but he’s since become sort of a caricature of himself, losing Mario Lavandeira for the sake of Perez Hilton. Plus, he’s Cuban, which should have been enough to make him awesome by default, you know? If he could learn to somehow work his fame without seeming to cling to it so desperately, we think he really could do something to salvage his image. The laying off of outing supposedly gay celebrities and then calling people faggots thing might also help. A bit.
In any case, he would do well to take some tips from his camera-shy, and super hot, mom.
