Poll: Will Ellen DeGeneres Be A Better American Idol Judge Than Paula Abdul?

Just a little over a month after Paula Abdul quit American Idol via twitter, Fox has announced that long-time fan and talk-show host, Ellen DeGeneres, has been announced as her replacement.

DeGeneres who says, “”I don’t know how it happened myself, but I have not missed one episode of that show,” has been partnered up with Fox for about two weeks before she finally announced it on her talk show on Wednesday. Although she has been a guest on So You Think You Can Dance since she is also an avid fan of dancing, the talk-show host does not have any particular training in the music field other than being a fan again. The American Idol gig will become her “night gig” as she will not be canceling her talk show in order fill the position.

She has expressed her hope to be a judge for the people and not exactly for technicality as she went on to explain:

“I love everything about it and I love music, as you know. Hopefully I’m the people’s point of view because I’m just like you. I sit at home and I watch it and I don’t have that technical . . . I’m not looking at it in a critical way from the producer’s mind. I’m looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person.”

As much flak as we had given Abdul for her hysterics and obviously drugged-up opinions, the 80’s pop singer had experience in both the industry and the life of an artist. Do you think DeGeneres is a better fit even though she doesn’t necessarily have the credibility to judge the talent?
