An new extended trailer has been released for the upcoming film, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief. It starts off fairly similar to the previous one, but unlike its predecessor we actually get to see more of the gods! Sean Bean makes an appearance as Zeus, and Kevin McKidd shows up as Poseidon the god of the sea and Percy’s father.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be following in the footsteps of the Harry Potter franchise in more ways than one. The film is also based on a series of books that center on a young boy and his friends as they encounter mystical elements on their multiple journeys. Percy is a half human, half god who uncovers his powers with the help of several unlikely allies, and the biggest coincidence of all is that The Lightening Thief is produced by the same people who adapted Potter.

In the new trailer they finally show Percy interacting with the gods and his human mother, as played by Catherine Keener. As a fan of Greek mythology, this film looks like it’s going to be an entertaining adaptation of their history. When watching the video look out for a half horse, half human Pierce Brosnan, and Uma Thurman as the sneaky Medusa.
