Jackson’s mother seeks to be trustee of his estate

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two trustees named by Michael Jackson to administer his estate have won a judge’s written order to move ahead in spite of new opposition by Katherine Jackson’s lawyers who continue to claim she “should be treated like a third trustee.”

The dispute between the two sides was detailed in documents filed Monday with Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff before he signed off on the papers needed for the trustees to begin doing business on behalf of the estate.

A lawyer for the trustees submitted a lengthy declaration detailing a week of contentious negotiations in which Jackson’s camp objected to the lack of a formal role for the pop star’s mother.

The judge had refused on July 6 to appoint her as a co-administrator.
