Concert Tickets: The Black Eyed Peas, Fucked Up and More

Black Eyed Peas- BS- Dec 4

Grammy nominations came out this week and I have one word to sum them up: boring. The Lady Gaga/ Beyonce/ Taylor Swift trifecta in the main categories was expected, but what’s up with The Black Eyed Peas getting tons of love while rock and indie-bands with solid records got overlooked (and for the record, The Dave Matthews Band doesn’t count)?

Sure, the Peas write catchy, though repetitive songs, but Album of the Year/ Record of the Year/ Song of the Year? WTF? The E.N.D was on most critics “worst of the year” list. Do they have compromising pictures of the voters or something?

Find out what went right with the Grammy nods, along with this week’s ticket sales…

While the big categories are always predictable (except for Best New Artist which stretched out this year and nominated The Silversun Pickups, The Ting Tings and MGMT), most of the interesting nominations occurred in the smaller categories.

Like these for example:

  • The Lonely Island’s “I’m On A Boat” collab with T-Pain got nominated in the best Rap/Sung Collaboration category. Best-song-ever.
  • Patton Oswalt finally got nominated in the Best Comedy Album category. If he loses to George Lopez I’m storming the ceremony with pitchforks and torches.
  • Johnny Depp got nominated in the Best Album Notes category for Gonzo: The Life And Work of Hunter S. Thompson. Yes… that Johnny Depp. Bastard officially has everything now…

Anyway, it’s a pretty big weekend for onsales, which is kind of nice after a month of virtually nothing. Expect more next week as the spring concert season begins to heat up.

Oh, yeah: new Arcade Fire album and tour in the spring… swwwwweeeeettttt… Coachella 2010 here I come!

Grammy darlings- and Hebrew word-smiths- The Black Eyed Peas have announced dates for their 2010 “The E.N.D.” North American tour. The arena tour is set to begin February 4th in Atlanta, GA and run through April 11th in Vancouver, B.C. No openers have been announced, but c’mon, how about a Black Eyed Peas/ Arcade Fire tour? Just people watching in the audience would be worth it. Regardless of who opens (I’m guessing they’ll be from the R&B realm), tickets go on sale this weekend. You can find all dates here.
