japandroids Concert Picks: Japandroids, Do Make Say Think, Agent Ribbons...

From us here at BeatCrave to you – we hope you had a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. We also hope you’ve rested enough in spite 3am Black Friday sales to ready yourselves for enjoying the rest of the weekend! Yes, we’ve selected these shows with the aim of getting you up and out of any self-inflicted food coma good leftovers might bring – check them out below:

  • Japandroids | Friday, November 27 | 8:00 pm | 18+ | $10 | The Echo, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Woo. We forgot what the definition of “clash”, “bang”, “boom” was, but along came the Japandroids, and we remembered. If anything, the track “Young Hearts Spark Fire”, with the lyrics “We used to dream, now we worry about dying” and an insane energy that simply resonates within is all we needed to remember. With Surfer Blood – Buy Tickets
  • Kid Sister | Friday, November 27 | 10:00 pm | 19+ | $15-$25 | Webster Hall, New York, NY – Map | Also known as Melisa Young, Kid Sister’s fusion of dance, electro, hip-hop and R&B is at this point a heightened skill. Best known for the track “Pro Nails” recorded with Kanye West, we’ve a feeling that we’ll be hearing a lot more from her, what the forward-facing attitude and brilliant sheen of her new album, Ultra Violet - and her continued live performances, natch. With Flosstradamus – Buy Tickets
  • Do Make Say Think | Saturday, November 28 | 8:00 pm | 18+ | $15 | Music Hall of Williamsburg, New York, NY – Map | The Toronto, Ontario-based instrumental band inspires introspective thought just by their name. Coupled with their music style, however – a sort of distorted, hypnotic sound, however oddly comforting in familiarity – along with the beneficial lack of lyrics is what will make anyone’s experience with their performances a personal one, although surrounded by others. They are a seriously interesting listen, for sure. With The Happiness Project and Years – Buy Tickets
  • Dum Dum Girls | Saturday, November 28 | 8:30 pm | 21+ | $8-$10 | Spaceland, Los Angeles, CA – Map | The Dum Dum Girls – the singular (not plural) musical outfit whose name is derived from the Talk Talk song of pretty much the same name  – will be owning the stage. After CMJ, we say that without a doubt. With the Tartans, Pearl Harbor, and Part Time Punks – Buy Tickets
  • Agent Ribbons | Sunday, November 29 | 8:00 pm | 21+ | $8 | Beat Kitchen, Chicago, IL – Map | A slight bit disturbing lyrically-speaking, but quirky and sultry enough melodically – a modified modern jazz-infused rock with respect to the innovators of the music style. Natalie, Lauren, and Naomi – they would be Agent Ribbons. There is no wonder at all regarding their slew of tour dates leading into the end of 2009. With Arrah & the Ferns and Rabbit Children – Buy Tickets

Who are you filling your plate up with this weekend?
