13 Obnoxious Displays of Hip Hop Wealth

Hip hop artists over the past decades have had an affinity for showing their wealth in increasingly odd, outlandish, and absurd methods. These rappers made their money, and immediately decided they needed to show this to the world — be it through diamonds, chrome, gold, platinum, or any other loud and obnoxious way. The following are some of the most ridiculous hip hop artists and some of the most obnoxious displays of their newfound wealth.
Lil Wayne

Hip Hop artist Lil Wayne had some dental work done early in 2009 (March to be exact), to the tune of 0,000 in diamonds. The multi-platinum artist is now obsessed with brushing his teeth, and is extremely careful with what he’ll put in front of his six figure grill. The gems can only be removed through surgery, but suffice to say popcorn is no longer on the menu in the Wayne household.
Just Blaze

Just Blaze loves to play video games. So much so that a buddy of his gave him a diamond encrusted Playstation controller. Made of 18 carat white gold and 68 carats in black diamonds, this controller probably seems like a joke, but alas it is not.
Russell Simmons

Russell Simmons and his ex-wife had one helluva throne to sit on. Their gold and marble toilet rests in their master bathroom, waiting for it’s new owners (the house is for sale) to come and take their place as the new king of the castle. Their toilet’s value is unknown, but made out of solid gold and marble must mean it’s worth much more than its contents.
Lil Jon

Just look at this guy. Lil Jon made it into the Guinness Book of World Records with his bling when he bought his pendant that reads “Crunk Ain’t Dead” for 0,000. The pendant has 2,756 white stones in it, and is the largest pendant of it’s kind. It’s measurements are 7.5″ x 6″ x 1″, and Lil Jon is so proud of his piece he’s challenged other hip hop stars to beat his “bling” record.
Nelly

50 Cent wasn’t too impressed with Nelly’s diamond buying habits back in 2005; the NYC rapper criticized Nelly for purchasing million in diamond jewelery. Not for nothing, 50 Cent isn’t exactly the most innocent of “bling” purchasers either, but not to the tune of million. Nelly’s “bling” was a gift to himself from a successful album release, let’s hope those records continue to sell…
50 Cent

50 Cent may criticize Nelly for buying million in jewelery, but he’s no saint either. 50 purchased Mike Tyson’s former house for .1 million, which is a steal considering Mike’s ex-wife wanted million for the 50,000 square foot estate. Not only does the house have 35 bathrooms and 4 kitchens, it has every other cribs-like amenity you can imagine. And that’s just in the first 15,000 feet.
Jay-Z

Jay-Z’s display of wealth comes in a different, much grander scale. Mr. Z doesn’t deal in petty diamonds or platinum (well technically he does), but more so his big spending includes sports teams and companies. Jay-Z is a part of the ownership team that purchased the team back in 2004 for 0 million dollars. Jay even plans to move the team to his native Brooklyn, NY, but legal issues have held up the move.
P Diddy

P Diddy is upset. Why? Because fuel prices are on the rise, and his private jet is getting more expensive to fly cross country. His G4 would use about ,000 worth of fuel round trip from coast to coast – much higher than the 0,000 he estimates. But, when you’re flying in you’re private jet worth about million, ,000 isn’t such a big deal.
Master P

Master P is one of the most financially successful hip hop stars out there, so he can afford to have a Gucci fetish. He has allegedly put over 0,000 into his car, including a custom Gucci paint job and Louis Vuitton airbags.
Kanye West

(Source)
Kanye West had a custom piece of jewelry put together by the famed hip hop jeweler “Jacob the Jeweler” for his “Jesus Walks” tour, in the shape and form of Jesus. Diamonds, white gold, platinum, and other gems are spread out throughout the piece, which spurred an entire line of jewelery, which Kanye has decided produce (probably with little or no clientèle).
TI

(Source)
For Mrs. TI (Tiny?) birthdays mean diamonds. This last year, TI gave his girl diamonds, diamonds, and more diamonds – specifically a 10 carat ring. Unfortunately the rapper couldn’t present the gift in person, as he is currently behind bars for federal gun charges. But surely the magnitude of the gifts he gave will make up for the 366 day prison sentence the hip hop artist received.
Snoop Dogg

Snoop’s impressive and over-the-top car collection earns him a spot on our list. For this ride, he has been featured in magazine’s from Lowrider to The New York Times, and he has his own personal “car guy”. Going by the moniker, “Big Slice”, Snoop’s personal mechanic has worked with Snoop for years and rebuilds custom cars for the now-soft rap artist. One of the most famous is the car Snoop calls “Huggy Bear”, which was featured in the movie “Starsky and Hutch”.
Big Boi

The sneakers have 11 carats of chocolate champagne diamonds from India. The shoes were presented to Big Boi by by Laced Up owner Ernel Dawkins and P&C Couture boutique owner Rita Patel.
